This well was built beside a Bedford Store in late 1800's to serve the community. This became a rest stop on the Grapevine to Fort Worth route. Joel Haden Bobo (1845 - 1921) son of Bedford founder Weldon Wiles Bobo(1813 - 1854) owned the store from 1896 to 1910. Then his son-in-law William R. Fitch (1873 - 1959) from 1910 to 1933 followed by his son, Walter R Fitch, a World War II veteran (1812 - 1972). The well was in use until the Fitch store burned in 1968. The well was restored in 1979 as a memorial to these community leaders.
