Help with a 9th grade science fair idea concerning the growth rate of crystals? We Answered:
You can work with the crystallization of water under different conditions in your freezer. Different salts will give different freezing rates, and some different Crystal shapes. Lime in water for example tends to form large very narrow sheets in the vertical plane. You could also adjust pressure to some degree working with water in the freezer. You can try to show how shape affects crystallization rates by putting the same volume of water into different vessels, very thin and high, very low and wide, etc.
Figure out why sometimes ice freezes clearly, other times milky opaque.
A little thought can give you hundreds of things to test with just water, various receptacles and a freezer.

For my 9th grade Science Fair project, could I do "How a Works Bomb work"?We Answered:
Personally, I wouldn't think it would be a problem, but in the idiotic world we live in today of "zero tolerance" and the paranoia among teachers and parents about school violence, you would likely be censored by some politically correct moron. If you are ready for the possibility of being punished for your interest in something as "scary" as a bomb, go for it, but if you don't want the attention, I would suggest finding something else. Sorry.Frank Said:
