I think that it really depends on the type of person. If you feel that you would thrive in an online learning environment rather than a tradition university, you should absolutely go for it. Advantages are definitely the flexibility and cost. However, I'm not sure how that works with student teaching and the like, so you should definitely fully research that aspect of it.

None that I know about. YOu probably could take some classes online but not the whole degree. NY certification to become a teacher is one of the most stringent in the US. Teachers trained in NY can work anywhere but if you trained in another state it is hard to get certified in NYS.

I agree with the others. Though online might work better for your life style it is sort of looked down on. Especially if the schools is not accredited. I am sure there are some online courses you may be able to take while earning your BA at a University. Especially if your looking to go into education you will want to have a good relationship with your Advisor so they can help you take the right internships, etc.
