indiana university of pennsylvania has one the best criminology departments in the US, however i believe they do not currently have a forensics department, several years ago I know they were working on getting one started. It may have already started or may be in the near future, definitely would recommend it as a college to check into.

Well Beth, considering you don't want to work with inmates, maybe criminal justice isn't for you. You see, most of the jobs work with "criminals" in the criminal justice field. Whether it's probation,parole,correction officer, etc...you'll end up working with the criminal element. You could try majoring in counseling or psychology with a minor in criminal justice which would enable you to do be more diverse in future employment opportunities. Most CSI take their own photos of the crime scene, so unless you want to be a csi, chances are slim for that. Any degree you can obtain will be useful for you in the future, so in other words, there is no online education that is better than another one.

In my opinion, people stress too much over college major. I have a friend with an education degree who's a banker, two history degrees who are now police officers, a communications major who's an Army officer, the list goes on. It seems most people end up working in a field unrelated to their major anyway. This is because America's universities are "liberal arts" curriculums. This means, if you're a journalism major, you end up taking classes in art history, physics, geography, music appreciation, speech, literature, and many other subjects. The BA in America, regardless of major, is designed ot teach you to think and solve problems. Graduate degrees are usually more "professional." (MBA, JD, MD, MEd, MSE, PharmD, etc)

I just graduated from the University of Phoenix and it is a very reputable online University. More and more employers are accepting online degrees due to economics. Ashworth is a good school as well. Read the accredidations and follow your dreams. It took me a long time to pick my college, but graduation was well worth it.

There are many online colleges offering Criminal Justice, and you should be able to complete this in about two years. Good luck to you and do lots of research before you jump into a school.
