Primary school teachers !! Maths lesson ideas - fractions Year 3?We Answered:
I actually teach fractions in grade 2. We start off by folding paper into different configurations. We then shade these pieces of paper to look like the different fractions. The hardest part of learning fractions is being able to see the different fractions.Greg Said:

Fun fractions lessons for fifth graders? We Answered:
I can't currently think of an entire lesson, but just thought I'd offer a really inexpensive idea. Use the kids themselves to represent fractions. Could even use to represent addition and subtraction of fractions. Kids love to get up, spend way too much time in their seats. For advanced fractions have all with a certain hair color etc. get in a group and then have them figure out what percentage of the class they represent. Just a quick thought.Glen Said:

All you need to do is addup the total portions of all the foods eaten that day, say 27. You need to eat 5 servings of whatever. So, that is 5/27.

Adding and Subtracting Fractions-Questions on lesson plan needed? We Answered:
Honestly I wouldnt ask for much more explanation. I am very knowledgable with this math so I guess there's a sense of biasness there but I would give atleast 2 examples for each. Have 2 examples for add and sub with the same den. and have 2 examples of add and sub without the same den.Math is one of those things that repetition is the key to success. When you show multiple examples it gives learners a more concrete idea on how the principles work. The more problems/examples the better. Also it doesn't hurt to play a small game with a few questions when you get done with your lesson. Have the class participate with the problems, allowing them person practice. You then can see first hand some common mistakes that may take place when working out these problems.
Good work!!
