Big-band Hits BEDFORD-- Big-band crooner Ken Nelson will sing hits of such legends as Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett and Perry Como at a benefit Friday August 20, 2004, for the Old Bedford School. Nelson recently hosted Frank Sinatra--Classic Duets for PBS. His Frank Sinatra-style songs are included on his album Let's Swing....A Ding-Dong! and a single, Strange Kisses. Money raised from the benefit will go to the Bedford Historical Foundation for historical projects The concert will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the community center, 2400 School Lane. Old School Memories BEDFORD-- Saddle shoes and poodle skirts are strictly optional for the "Old Bedford School Days: Rock Around the Block" from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday on the grounds of the Old Bedford School, 2400 School Lane. The event, presented by the Bedford Historical Foundation, will include a 1 p.m. hula hoop competition, a 2 p.m. costume judging and a 3 p.m. Bedford trivia contest. Food and beverages will be sold.
