I want to learn topographical and construction surveycourse(surveyor) in distance education, what should i do?We Answered:
Well you did not say what your current level of education and experience is but here are some basics for the US... (these will vary by state)Surveying is a 'protected practice' in the US which means that, like a doctor or lawyer you must hold a professional certification from the state in which you offer your practice. So, you can not just graduate from college and hang out a shingle (advertisement).
Most states require several things in the following order
1) Examination for a preliminary certification: This is an 8 hour exam that is open to anyone with some basic requirements (high school, breathing, exam fee...etc...) you pass that and then..
2) Get Experience... most states require from 4 to 6 years of increasingly responsibility under the practice of a credentialed Surveyor.... most require at least One year of leading a survey crew and One year of doing office research and calculations. Then you can..
3) Gather up between 4 to 6 written recommendations from already licensed professionals (don't worry.. in the 4 to 6 years you will meet more then enough.. all you have to do is convince them that you might make a good surveyor.. collecting those you next need to
4) Apply for the final licensing exam. This one is not a slam dunk like the first . Your application will be individually reviewed, vetted, and your references will be contacted in many cases. If all goes well you get to...
5) Take the licensing exam. Its like the infamous BAR exam for lawyers.. but harder.. The typical pass rate is often under 20% in California... but if you pass you
6) Are now a surveyor.. you can do your topo and construction work and collect a good fee for your time..
Some states also have minimum education requirements, however I did not include that because it is not consistent.
So.. you should decide WHERE you are going to be a surveyor (to start with) and then contact that State (or Country ?) 's licensing agency to find out the specifics.
good luck.....

Distance learning vs. on campus? We Answered:
If it's from a good university then don't worry about it. On your physical degree, it's not going to say "online degree," it's going to look like any other degree. The only way an employer will know if you got it online will be if you tell them. I'm getting my masters from a respected university and the university only offers it online, which sucks, because I actually like being on campus. Online can actually be much harder than attending on campus, and there will be some subjects that are heIIa hard to learn online, like some math classes, and I would fail if I tried to take a math class online, because I learn better in a classroom setting. I'm trying to switch majors and transfer to another university and the university I want to go to only offers the degree online, lol, but I looked at the staff credentials and I'll have to say that I'll be very proud to graduate from this university and learn under the tutelage of such outstanding professors who are professionals in their field. This depends on what you want and what you can handle. The degree and work experience will definitely help you become a good contender for the job and get higher pay. You know your life better than the rest of us and you have to decide if it's worth it or not. I know what I would do based on my own wants and goals, but mine are different than yours. The good thing about online classes is that you can work on your own time, even at 3am, if that's the only time you have to complete school work.
