Karen Said:

What does IAS stand for?

We Answered:

From a computer viewpoint, it could mean Internet Authentication Service (IAS). Microsoft Development has a webpage on this service. It is technical in nature but it could help explain the process.

College maths project?

We Answered:

Depends on how complicated you want it to be, here's some examples:

I'm a builder and want to build a house, the house will be of such a size and built with bricks each of such a size, how many bricks will I need, roof tiles, floor boards etc. You could do a spread sheet that calculates the number of materials dependent on the house size etc.

Engineering, I've got a large cylinder shaped vessel and want to use it to make custard. If the custard is of such a viscosity, what diameter pipe do I need if I want to fill standard size cans at the rate of 10 per min. This won't be as easy as it sounds. Depending on the level you are at you can make assumptions to make it easier.

Banking: I want to open a regular saver account and pay a fixed amount monthly with the interest being added each month, design a calculation that adds the interest.

I'm a plastic sign maker and buy plastic by the square meter and want to cut a lot of letter O's out of it. How many 30cm high O's can I get out of a meter square etc

I designing a new flavour of crisps and know the ingredients cost x, and the production line can make y per hour but the fixed costs for the line are z per hour, do a spreadsheet with these variables that shows what price I need to sell them for to make 20% profit..
